Protective styles are great; they help us grow healthy hair and look good while doing it.  Whether we are rocking curly or straight hair, we need to remember our hair health and hygiene under there. Here are some tips on how to wash and moisturize your natural hair and scalp underneath a sew-in.

Rinse And Target Your Scalp

Wet both your natural hair and extensions. Use a low viscosity shampoo like AROMASE. It has a nozzle that makes it easier to get in between the weft and target the scalp. Massage gently and let the shampoo work it’s magic. Don’t forget to lather your extensions before you rinse.

Condition

Using the same method, dilute some conditioner in an applicator bottle and use the tip to reach your natural hair under your extensions.

Blow Dry

Towel dry for at least 30 minutes before blow drying your sew-in. Use low heat to ensure the longevity of your extensions and then follow up with your hair underneath. Get close to the wefts and allow the air to flow through. If the low setting is too hot, use the cool setting. Style your hair the way you normally would.

Wait To Moisturize

Wait at least 24 hours for your hair to fully dry before moisturizing. A light weight moisturizer in a bottle with a nozzle is ideal  to reach and nourish your natural hair, while heavy oils and creams can cause your extensions to fall flat. Be sure to wash and moisturize your hair earlier in the day to ensure that it is fully dry before bed. This will prevent mildew. Don’t forget to have a flawless and protective wash day!
