How To: Curly Afro With Bangs

I have fallen in love with kinky/ curly afros and bangs. I especially love Taren Guy’s mane. I have a different hair texture and length, so I cannot duplicate her style, but I can make a wig like it. I got some bohemian curly hair from Ladybug Accessories to achieve this look. The hair is sold in a bundle deal of 10, 12 and 14 inches for $99.99 and the hair comes in two half bundles as opposed to one full one.

Products Used:

  1. High Strength Weaving Thread.
  2. Mesh Dome Cap.
  3. Scissors.
  4. Bohemian Curly Hair.

Here’s What I Did:

I used a mesh dome cap to make my wig and began sewing the 10 inch extensions where my wig would meet the base of my scalp. I did this so that I could have a fuller look on top. I sewed the 10, 12, and 14 inch bundles in that order. Once I got to the crown area, I began sewing in circles until I created a closure. Closures on a wig or weave can be difficult, so I have a detailed video here. I put the wig on and sectioned it in the shape of a horseshoe. I split the horseshoe in two, stretched the front half and cut the hair between my nose and mouth. Once it sprung back, I had the perfect, easy curly bangs. Since it’s curly hair, it will look like a gelled down Jerri curl. To avoid looking like an active member of team Soul Glo, I grabbed a wide toothed comb and combed my hair out. I then fluffed it to get shape and trimmed as needed. It’s a fun, easy, and affordable protective style for the Winter and the best part is that you don’t have to fumble with a lace closure or get it trimmed regularly to maintain it’s shape.

Check out the video below to see how I did it.
